Understanding the Costs and Timelines for Registration

The time and cost required to complete the registration process will vary from person to person for several reasons. The following chart shows the range of costs and time it may take to complete the registration process for a graduate of a Canadian or US accredited pharmacy program.

Internship trainingApplication is accepted with, or any time after, application for certificate of registration as an intern. Validation of training takes 5 – 10 business days. Jurisprudence ExamApplication deadline is the first of the month prior to the exam date (Jan 1, April 1, July 1, Oct 1)
Results are released 6 weeks after the exam.
May apply once registered as a student. $200
PEBC Qualifying ExamApplication deadline is about 8 weeks before the exam. Acceptance to sit the exam is provided within 5-6 weeks which is 2-3 weeks before the examination date. Examination results are provided in about 6 weeks. $1720
Application for a certificate of Registration as a PharmacistApplication may be submitted when the registration requirements have been met. Validation of requirements takes 5 – 10 business days. $205
Annual Registration FeePaid at time of application for registration as a pharmacist. $600 or $300 after Sept.1 and before March 10
Professional Liability InsuranceRequired while registered for all categories of registration (student, intern and pharmacist). Range of fees depending on the insurance carrier ($125 - $600/year)
TotalsFollowing graduation from a CCAPP or ACPE pharmacy program, the person who plans ahead to meet application deadlines and completes the requirements in the minimum time required may complete the process within 4 months. $1355 + plus annual fee $1720 + annual liability insurance fee
