RECONSTITUTING ANTIBIOTIC SUPPLIES
Distilled water is the indicated vehicle for the reconstitution of antibiotic suspensions. These formulations are subject to bacterial or mould growth if contaminated by micro-organisms resistant to the given antibiotic. This can occur even it the product is properly stored, under refrigeration. Distilled water, although not always entirely free of contaminants will seldom if ever contain troublesome organisms, whereas the use of tap water for this purpose increases the risk of bacteria or mould growth in the product.
