Glossary of Terms


Certified True (Copy/ies):
A copy of an original document signed by a guarantor will serve as a certified true copy of the original document. A guarantor includes those listed on a Canadian passport application such as a pharmacist who is in good standing with OCP.

Current Passport-Sized Photograph:
One recent photograph, taken within the last 12 months, must accompany, the Application to Evaluate Pharmacy Technician Credentials. The photograph must be signed (by anyone qualified to serve as a guarantor on a Canadian passport application, including a pharmacist who is in good standing with OCP), as being a certified true photograph of yourself. The photograph will remain in your file at OCP.

Member in Good Standing:
A pharmacist registered with the OCP who does not have terms, conditions or limitations on their certificate of registration.

On-the-Job-Trained:
One whose training has been supervised by a pharmacist, or more than one pharmacist, to perform the functions of a pharmacy technician as described in the current version of the OCP document

Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP):
The licensing and regulatory body for pharmacies and pharmacists in Ontario.

OCP Accreditation (Accred) Number:
A 5-6 digit number issued by OCP to all accredited pharmacies and indicated on each Accreditation Certificate. This certificate is clearly displayed in all pharmacies.

Pharmacist:
A person who has met all the requirements of, and is registered with, the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Pharmacy Technician/Assistant Program:
A formal program offered by a community college or private vocational school approved by the Ministry of Education and Training of Ontario, or its equivalent in another jurisdiction.
