Fees & Timelines - Pharmacy Technician Applicants

The chart shows all fees and timelines that may apply to pharmacy technician applicants. Please see the registration pathway that best describes you to determine which fees apply to your registration process and when each one is required. Estimates of the overall time and fees are included on each pathway.


Fees Payable to the Ontario College of Pharmacists

In most cases, acceptable forms of payment to the College are Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cheque, money order or cash. However, fees for applications for a Certificate of Registration and the Jurisprudence Exam must be paid online by credit card.

OCP-Specific Requirements and Fees

• Former pharmacy assistants who are eligible to undergo Structured Practical Evaluation (SPE)
• Pharmacy technicians already licensed in another Canadian province
Jurisprudence Examination
$100 + HST Online application processed immediately

Paper application takes up to 10 business days

Results are released 4 to 5 weeks after the exam
3 years Application deadlines:
• January 1 for February exam
• April 1 for May exam
• July 1 for August exam
• October 1 for November exam

Late application deadline is three weeks prior to the exam date (Late fee of $50 + HST applies)

Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) Pharmacy Technician Qualifying Exam
Part I (MCQ): $450

Part II (OSPE): $1,100
Application acknowledgement: 4 weeks

Application acceptance: 2 to 3 weeks prior to the exam

Results: 5 weeks
Accepted by OCP as proof that your knowledge, skills and judgment are current for 3 years from latest pass date

PEBC requires both parts of the exam to be successfully completed within 3 years of each other
Required for all pharmacy technician applicants who are not already licensed in another Canadian province
Selkirk College National Pharmacy Technician Bridging Education Program developed by the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) Application: $100

$405 to $420 per course

Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR) fee varies by course
Application and registration closes 3 to 4 weeks prior to the start of classes


Applications for PLAR exams must be received by the first day of each month
2 years from successful completion date of last required bridging course Required for international pharmacy technician applicants who did not successfully complete Parts I and II of the PEBC Pharmacy Technician Qualifying Exam on their first attempt at each
University of Toronto, Faculty of Pharmacy Orientation to the Canadian Health Care System course Application: $325 + HST
