Administering Injections to Young Children (Online Modules) (2020 – 2021)

Summary

After completion of this learning module, pharmacists will be better able to:
•Accurately identify the appropriate injection site for both intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) injections for children between the ages of two and five through landmarking
•Demonstrate how to position a young child to prepare for an IM or SC injection
•Identify strategies to deal with challenging situations, including highly active children and those who fear needles, and offer approaches to increase comfort and reduce pain in children
•Select the appropriate needle and syringe size for administration of vaccines to young children
