The regulations under Safeguarding our Communities Act (Patch for Patch Return Policy) took effect on October 1, 2016.
The mandatory fentanyl patch-for-patch program establishes specific obligations on prescribers, dispensers and patients in the prescribing, dispensing and use of fentanyl patches.
In collaboration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, a joint Patch-For-Patch Fentanyl Return Program Fact Sheet has been developed, which outlines the specific roles and responsibilities for physicians and pharmacists when prescribing and dispensing fentanyl.
