March marks Pharmacy Appreciation Month and the College would like to acknowledge the contributions of Ontario’s more than 23,500 regulated pharmacy professionals to the health and well-being of patients in communities throughout the province.
The role pharmacy professionals play has continued to grow to meet Ontario’s evolving healthcare needs. Earlier this year, pharmacists were authorized to prescribe medications for 13 minor ailments. Pharmacy professionals continue to support the province’s COVID-19 testing and vaccination programs alongside maintaining the public’s access to vital pharmacy services. It’s clear pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have consistently demonstrated their value within an integrated healthcare system.
As our health system continues to evolve, pharmacy will evolve along with it and pharmacy professionals everywhere will continue to be relied upon to provide quality, ethical and safe pharmacy services that communities have come to know and trust.
We would also like to acknowledge those pharmacy professionals who have engaged with the College by participating in focus or advisory groups, sharing their feedback through surveys or consultations, serving on the Board or on our Standing and Statutory Committees, sharing their stories in Pharmacy Connection and engaging in the many initiatives aimed at promoting quality pharmacy care for all Ontarians. We are grateful for their contributions, their dedication to improving the health of patients and their ongoing commitment to providing quality care.
Thank you to Ontario’s pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, interns and students for demonstrating an unwavering commitment to their communities.
