Undergraduate from the University of Ottawa Pharmacy Program
If you are an undergraduate from the pharmacy program at the University of Ottawa, follow the steps below to register as a pharmacist in Ontario.
Step 1:
- Pre-register with the College
- Create an online account
- Pay the pre-registration fee
- Submit supporting documentation
Step 2:
- Register as a Student
- Obtain personal professional liability insurance
- Submit police background check
- Login to your account to apply
- Pay the student application fee
- Complete the Declaration of Good Character
- Enter/update your practice information for any site where you will be practicing as a pharmacy student
Step 3:
- Graduate from your Program*
- Your school must directly provide the College with evidence of your graduation or eligibility to graduate before you may proceed
- Your status as a pharmacy student registered with the College automatically expires when you graduate. You will no longer be able to practise the authorized acts of the profession until you are registered as an intern or pharmacist.
- Register as an Intern
- Required if you wish to continue practising the authorized acts of the profession until you are registered as a pharmacist.
- Obtain personal professional liability insurance
- Submit police background check
- Login to your account to apply
- Pay the intern application fee
- Complete the Declaration of Good Character
- Enter/update your practice information for any site where you will be practicing as an intern
- Practice Assessment of Competence at Entry (PACE)**
- Successfully complete PACE
- Login to your account to apply
**Successful completion of PACE is a non-exemptible registration requirement for graduates of other CCAPP-accredited pharmacy degree programs. Further discussions between the University of Ottawa and the College are required before the College decides if this registration requirement is met as part of uOttawa’s PharmD Program. Updates will be posted once available.
- Jurisprudence, Ethics and Professionalism Exam*
- Successfully complete the exam
- Login to your account to apply
- Pay the exam fee
Step 4:
- PEBC Qualifying Exam*
- Successfully complete Parts I and II of the PEBC Qualifying Exam for pharmacists
- This exam is administered by the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada
- You must submit your PEBC number to the College so that your results can be confirmed
Step 5:
- Final application for Certificate of Registration as a Pharmacist
- Obtain/maintain personal professional liability insurance
- Login to your account to apply
- Pay the final application fees
- Pharmacist final application fee
- New registrant annual fee
- Complete the Declaration of Good Character
- Your police background check must be current to proceed
- Update your personal and practice information
Time & Cost Estimates
Many of the requirements for registration have expiry dates to ensure that your knowledge, skills and judgment are current at the time of your final application. The Fees & Timelines chart lists all registration-related fees and timelines to help you anticipate the time and costs required to register as a pharmacist in Ontario.
Graduates who plan ahead to meet application deadlines and complete the above requirements in the minimum time required can complete the registration process within four months.
Estimated fees paid to the College are $910 plus the annual fee. These fees are outlined in the College By-Laws.
Estimated fees paid to third parties are $2,830 plus the annual liability insurance premium.
