March marks Pharmacy Appreciation Month and the College would like to acknowledge the impact of Ontario’s 25,000+ regulated pharmacy professionals on the health and well-being of patients across the province.

The role pharmacy professionals play continues to grow to meet Ontario’s evolving healthcare needs. Last fall, pharmacists were authorized to prescribe medications for an additional six minor ailments. Further scope of practice changes were introduced for Ontario pharmacy professionals related to the vaccination and treatment of COVID-19, influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

As our health system continues to evolve, pharmacy will evolve along with it and pharmacy professionals will continue to be relied upon to provide quality, ethical and safe pharmacy services.

We would also like to acknowledge those pharmacy professionals who have engaged with the College by participating in focus or advisory groups, sharing their feedback through surveys or consultations, serving on the Board or committees, sharing their stories in Pharmacy Connection and engaging in the many initiatives aimed at promoting quality and safe pharmacy care for Ontarians. We are grateful for their contributions, their dedication to improving the health of patients and their ongoing commitment to providing quality care.

Thank you to Ontario’s pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, interns and students for demonstrating an unwavering commitment to communities across the province.
