Clinical Viewers

Community pharmacists now have access to patient health information through one of two clinical viewers: ConnectingOntario and ClinicalConnect®.

Clinical viewers help pharmacists make faster, more informed decisions at the point of care and reduce medication-related harms.

Clinical viewers can provide pharmacists with:

  • Medication histories related to publicly funded dispensed drugs, publicly funded pharmacy services, and dispensed monitored drugs
  • Laboratory test orders and results, including COVID-19 test results
  • Diagnostic imaging results
  • Discharge summaries and other reports from acute care hospitals across the province

Accessing clinical viewers can help inform clinical decision-making, reduce medication errors, facilitate transitions in care, and support your documentation – all of which improve patient outcomes and safety.

Upon applying for access to a clinical viewer, you will be connected to an onboarding lead who will help guide you through the steps and answer any questions along the way.

ClinicalConnect® is operated by Hamilton Health Sciences while ConnectingOntario ClinicalViewer is operated by Ontario Health; therefore, the end-user requirements, terms, and conditions differ between the two. Data from the Electronic Health Record (EHR) is available in both clinical viewers.
